Talk Therapy to recognise the wisdom within. |
psychotherapy
Psychotherapy is communication or "talk therapy" between client and therapist, intended to help people feel better. Psychotherapy draws on many long-established practices, styles and theories that have been developed, assessed and improved by many thousands of studies over many decades. It helps us work through challenges in all areas of our lives, and to promote a useful understanding of our behaviours, motivations, personalities and unique circumstances to support us to grow, heal, adapt, change and thrive. Yes, that's a lot of words!
The art of psychotherapy lies in matching individual people and their challenges to the therapy style that suits them best. You may be a person of few words, and that's ok too! Connection and support are the primary goals of any psychotherapy session.
Words like compassion, wisdom, and understanding are the heart of making healthy connections between people, and they are therefore at the heart of psychotherapy.
Once a connection is made, then the understanding and healing can begin to flourish. Your therapist will work with you to provide a safe space, a listening ear, and a gentle guide to opening doors or looking at points of view that may be helpful for you. Sometimes it really is as simple as that. We are all wise beyond words, deep inside, and it's this inner wisdom that your therapist will softly seek to unfold and reveal as they walk beside you.
Ganga, Kate and Melissa all have experience and training in psychotherapy.

We are particularly delighted to be able to offer Ganga's services, mostly by Zoom online or occasionally in person, at the Lighthouse. While Ganga currently works professionally in a therapist role using the proven, well established and highly conventional techniques, her specialist modality of Sound Psychotherapy is increasingly demanding more attention.
Ganga and her work has often been called the highlight of many sessions by both practitioners and clients, in gatherings as diverse as international academic conferences, government training programs, and for more than a decade with Petrea King's renowned "Quest for Life" residential courses where she continues to be a cherished, powerful and highly effective facilitator.

Kate is our dedicated adolescent & family specialist and we are very proud to be able to offer her proven skills and talents as part of the Lighthouse services. Offering consultations by Zoom to suit busy families, Kate brings a wealth of success and experience in working with children, teenagers and young adults in a variety of ways.
While most of Kate's professional life has been with NSW Education working with groups of young people in specialist behaviour settings, it is Kate's ability to connect with, understand and gently guide each individual in the way that best suits them that defines Kate's much respected style as a leader in her field with so many positive outcomes for both the young person and their families.
